Quality Engineer – Civil Construction (Oil & Gas)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to lead civil QA/QC activities on oil & gas, building and infrastructure projects. The role involves developing quality plans, supervising inspections, and ensuring compliance with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings and procedures to define QA/QC requirements.
• Develop and obtain approval for Project Quality Plans, Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans.
• Assist the Quality Manager with daily quality activities, reporting and meetings.
• Monitor quality issues, raise Non‑Conformance Reports, recommend corrective actions and close out NCRs and CARs.
• Liaise with client, consultant, contractor and third‑party inspectors for inspections and approvals.
• Supervise civil QA/QC inspectors and conduct inspections of excavation, backfilling, foundations, concrete, reinforcement, structural steel, masonry, finishing and infrastructure works.
• Review material test certificates and ensure material compliance with approved specifications.
• Maintain quality control records, inspection checklists, calibration logs and document control distribution.
• Conduct internal audits of subcontractors, suppliers and project departments.
• Organise quality awareness and training programmes for the workforce.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Civil QA/QC Engineer in oil & gas, building or infrastructure construction.
• Strong leadership, communication and coordination abilities.
• Proven ability to interpret international standards and project specifications.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of ACI, ASTM, BS, ASHTO and ISO standards.
• Expertise in civil construction inspection procedures and quality control methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, structural and architectural drawings.
• Experience with concrete works, earthworks, piling, foundations, structural steel, road works and utility installations.
• Familiarity with material testing, calibration of testing equipment and laboratory testing management.
