Quality Inspector – Coating, Insulation & Refractory

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Quality Inspector (Inspector I) to oversee coating, insulation and refractory works on its Abu Dhabi site. The role ensures that all activities meet environmental, safety and technical standards while supporting the company’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Verify weather conditions comply with applicable standards before work begins.
• Ensure manufacturer instructions and MSDS are followed for handling and storage of painting/coating materials.
• Maintain material data sheets, traceability and correct material usage.
• Monitor contractor performance, verify applicator competence and certification, and confirm equipment serviceability.
• Check that inspection and test equipment is calibrated and personnel are trained in its use.
• Oversee surface preparation, blast profile, and cleanliness at each stage of the coating process.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness, control recoating intervals, and ensure proper application technique.
• Conduct visual inspections after each coat and witness required non‑destructive or destructive tests.

Required profile

• Experience in quality inspection of coating, insulation or refractory projects.
• Knowledge of MSDS handling, material traceability and relevant industry standards.
• Ability to assess contractor competence and equipment calibration status.
• Familiarity with surface preparation, blasting and film thickness measurement techniques.
