Radiation Protection Technologist

About the role

The Radiation Protection Technologist is responsible for planning and executing radiation protection activities in accordance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and nuclear safety standards. The role ensures safe operation of radiologically controlled areas, monitors contamination, and supports emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Manage access to Radiologically Controlled Areas, contaminated zones, and high‑radiation zones.
• Review and execute Radiation Work Permits to meet protection requirements.
• Conduct radiation surveys of personnel, equipment, and the environment and provide data for permit analysis.
• Oversee the use and maintenance of personal radiation protection equipment, dosimetry, and portable monitoring devices.
• Control hazardous materials and prevent equipment contamination within controlled areas.
• Monitor personal contamination, perform decontamination, and ensure exposure minimisation.
• Coordinate radiation protection response during emergencies and assist injured workers.
• Validate radiation monitoring system data and manage liquid/gaseous radioactive effluent releases.
• Assess skin and internal dose results to track personnel exposure.

Required profile

• Proven experience in radiation protection activities within nuclear or industrial settings.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, radiation work permits, and emergency preparedness standards.
• Ability to conduct radiation surveys, manage contamination control, and operate monitoring equipment.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and reliability in all tasks.
