Registered Nurse - NICU (Sharjah)

About the role

Royal Hospital Sharjah is recruiting a Registered Nurse for its NICU. The nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to neonates and paediatric patients, works within the scope of practice and puts the health, wellbeing and safety of patients first.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, including systematic assessments, vital signs monitoring and escalation of abnormalities
• Create and evaluate care plans with the interprofessional team, and document accurately in the patient record
• Administer medications, IV fluids and blood products, and provide wound care
• Provide pre- and post-operative care, assist with procedures and help with admission, transfer and discharge
• Care for neonates, chemotherapy patients, phototherapy patients and those receiving cytotoxic drugs
• Perform Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation, and maintain equipment
• Work across departments and be available on call when necessary

Required profile

• Valid license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority, with required qualifications and experience
• Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card
• Owns and manages professional re-licensure
• Excellent observation skills, critical thinking and quick decision-making
• Willingness to work across departments and on call

Required skills

• Administration of cytotoxic drugs and care of chemotherapy patients
• Insertion and handling of port-a-cath needles and peripheral IV lines
• Proficiency in emergency procedures, equipment and protocols of the department
• Competency in all aspects of nursing care, including pain assessment and head-to-toe assessments
