Research Assistant – Psychology in Political & Economic Systems (PIPES) Lab

About the role

The PIPES Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a motivated Research Assistant to support interdisciplinary projects that examine how psychological processes interact with economic inequality, political polarization, and market dynamics. You will work directly with Dr. Jennifer Sheehy‑Skeffington across three research streams.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and conducting lab and survey experiments.
• Manage and analyse large‑scale panel, cross‑national, and administrative datasets.
• Support data collection, cleaning, and coding using statistical software.
• Prepare literature reviews, briefing notes, and draft sections for publications.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure timely progress on research milestones.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career researcher with strong interest in social psychology, political behavior, or political economy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced academic environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in R for statistical analysis.
• Experience with Qualtrics for survey administration.
• Knowledge of SPSS for data handling and analysis.
