Resident Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

As a Resident Engineer based in Abu Dhabi, you will ensure cost‑effective maintenance and optimal technical performance of Canon’s hardware portfolio. You will provide remote technical support, firmware upgrades and on‑site assistance to maximise first‑time fix rates.

Key responsibilities

• Perform first‑line troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis on standalone and connected Canon products.
• Achieve high first‑time fix rates while minimizing recalls and labour costs.
• Report labour and parts usage using the CAESAR coding structure.
• Manage stock inventory, rotation and balance against Return‑to‑Fit visits.
• Identify commercial opportunities and relay them to Sales & Marketing via OnSite‑InSight.
• Support customers by training super‑users on Canon hardware, firmware, printer drivers and related software.
• Liaise with account managers to communicate customer issues and explore business development opportunities.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or diploma in electronics, mechanics or software.
• Relevant experience in a service/technical support environment.
• Understanding of health and safety guidelines.
• Current GCC driving licence.
• Strong technical aptitude, fault‑finding ability and commercial insight.

Required skills

• Firmware maintenance and upgrades.
• Remote assistance tools (Canon remote support).
• CAESAR coding for labour/parts reporting.
• Printer driver configuration and troubleshooting.
