Resident Engineer – Roads and Infrastructure

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to lead a large roads infrastructure project in Dubai. The role involves overseeing staff, ensuring quality and safety, and delivering the project in line with plans, specifications, and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage delivery of assigned infrastructure packages, meeting time, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability targets.
• Supervise contractors to ensure compliance with approved IFC drawings, technical specifications, and contract milestones.
• Direct the supervision team (Resident Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors) and conduct daily site inspections.
• Maintain high HSE awareness, enforce contractors’ compliance with HSE plans and local regulations.
• Identify, resolve, and escalate technical and construction issues to avoid delays and cost impacts.
• Represent AECOM in client, authority, and coordination meetings; prepare progress reports and risk mitigation measures.
• Review and approve contractors’ programs, method statements, shop drawings, and material submissions.
• Monitor project progress against baseline schedule and recommend recovery actions.
• Manage variations, scope changes, and claims, providing technical input to commercial teams.
• Ensure compliance with Dubai authorities such as RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and NAKHEEL.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, managing large‑scale roads, bridges, underpasses, metro and rail projects.
• Previous experience with RTA projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, quality control, and HSE standards.
• Excellent project management, budgeting, and scheduling skills.
• Ability to work on‑site and travel as required.
