Resident Engineer - Structures Supervision, UAE

About the role

WSP is looking for an experienced Resident Engineer to join its Structures Supervision team on major projects across the UAE. The role leads site supervision activities, coordinates with key stakeholders and ensures the successful delivery of high-quality structural and infrastructure works.

Key responsibilities

• Lead construction supervision activities for the project and establish a construction management plan so all contracts are administered to a common standard.
• Handle correspondence with the client and the contractor, and arrange, chair and record meetings from the kick-off through progress and management meetings.
• Set up procedures for inspection approvals, testing and commissioning in line with the contract.
• Review the contractor's HSE plan and site safety procedures, and review and comment on the contractor's programme for detail, resources and cash flow.
• Monitor contractor progress and output, implement QMS requirements and carry out regular audits.
• Ensure the contractor liaises with service and other authorities in time, and certify interim and final payments after review.
• Prepare substantial completion reports and issue taking-over and defects liability certificates as required.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc (Hons) in Civil/Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 20 years' experience managing major building projects, including high-rise developments, luxury hotels, large residential complexes and commercial buildings.
• Prior UAE experience with a consulting background.
• Fluency in Arabic and English, written and spoken, is mandatory.
