Resident Engineer – Technical Support & Maintenance

About the role

As a Resident Engineer you will ensure cost‑effective maintenance and optimise the technical performance of Canon hardware products, including firmware upgrades and application support, primarily through remote assistance tools.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for standalone and connected Canon products.
• Achieve high first‑time fix rates while minimising recalls and labour costs.
• Report labour and parts usage using the CAESAR coding structure and optimise stock inventory.
• Identify commercial opportunities and relay them to sales and marketing via the ‘OnSite‑InSight’ program.
• Train super‑users on Canon hardware, software, printer drivers and features.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or diploma in electronics, mechanics or software.
• Relevant service‑industry experience with strong health‑and‑safety awareness.
• Excellent fault‑finding ability, customer‑handling skills and commercial insight.
• Current GCC driving licence and ability to represent Canon professionally.

Required skills

• Firmware maintenance and upgrade.

• CAESAR (Canon European Service Admin Coding) reporting.
• Printer driver configuration and troubleshooting.
