Resident Network & Security Engineer – Cisco

About the role

Proxima Networks is seeking an experienced Resident Network & Security Engineer to provide on-site Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for enterprise network and security infrastructure at a client location in Dubai. The role suits someone with strong hands-on Cisco networking and security experience who can manage day-to-day network operations independently and coordinate with Level 3 support for complex issues. The contract is full-time, 12 months and renewable.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-site L1 and L2 network and security support, escalating complex issues to L3 support when required.
• Administer and troubleshoot Cisco routers, Catalyst switches, Firepower, ISE, 9800-L wireless controllers and access points.
• Manage VLANs, routing, QoS, VPN, NAT, firewall policies and wireless SSIDs.
• Monitor the network using WhatsUp Gold.
• Perform Cisco IOS/FTD upgrades and configuration backups.
• Handle network security and access-policy changes through approved change processes.
• Troubleshoot MPLS, cloud and connectivity issues with third-party providers.
• Manage network incidents and service requests according to agreed SLAs, and coordinate with L3 teams and providers.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, incident records and change logs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of enterprise network and security experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking and security.
• Experience providing L1/L2 support in enterprise environments.
• Good understanding of incident management, troubleshooting and technical escalation.
• Ability to work independently at a customer site and communicate clearly with L3 teams and external providers.
