Restaurant Server

About the role

The Restaurant Server is an ambassador for the restaurant, reading guests' appetites through verbal and non-verbal cues, making recommendations and selling every item on the menu. The role reports to the Restaurant Managers and Food & Beverage Director and aims to exceed guest expectations while working accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Report to work on time and be ready for scheduled shifts.
• Follow all steps of service and serve food and drinks cheerfully and efficiently.
• Know the descriptions and ingredients of all menu items, and sell them to increase overall sales.
• Know all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category, plus drinks, their preparation, glassware and garnishes.
• Keep the service station stocked and complete posted side work.
• Provide an accurate report of all income received during the shift.
• Maintain a clean, orderly service area and follow sanitation guidelines.
• Work with a positive attitude toward co-workers and guests, and assist any tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• High school or equivalent education; experience in an upscale dining environment preferred.
• Able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
• Responsible, dependable and punctual, with basic math skills.
• Ability to speak, read and understand English, with a clean, professional appearance.
• Must pass a background check.
• Physical ability to carry a full-service tray, stand and walk for long periods, and lift at least 50 pounds.

Required skills

• Familiarity with and ability to use POS systems.
• Strong communication skills.
