Risk Manager (Aviation Projects)

About the role

AtkinsRéalis, a design, engineering and project management organisation, is seeking a Risk Manager for its project team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role sits within a programme of aviation projects and focuses on developing and monitoring a risk management process, tracking risks and opportunities and ensuring robust governance across the projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor a risk issue and opportunity management process, and implement the Risk Management Plan, Risk Log and associated governance.
• Maintain a risk matrix identifying dependencies and the impact of missing scheduled dates, and track significant risks so they are identified, recorded, evaluated, managed and re-evaluated.
• Identify, monitor and manage dependencies, inter-program and external risks, and internal programme risks.
• Coordinate discussions and agreements needed to realise benefits, and review the Risk Log against programme status reports and meetings.
• Provide accurate, timely management information on project status, monitor progress and drive delivery, challenging and accelerating projects where appropriate.
• Ensure commonality and coherence between projects, that interdependencies are understood and managed, and that standards are met legally and commercially.
• Drive value for money through supplier negotiations, develop the client's capacity through knowledge transfer, and implement best-practice management and administrative processes.

Required profile

• 10 to 15 years of experience in risk management, including at least 3 years as a Risk Manager in construction or engineering.
• Experience in aviation.
• Degree in engineering, business or equivalent, or postgraduate qualification or equivalent.
• Risk management qualification or equivalent preferred.
• Understanding and experience of complex projects, strong leadership, communication and management skills, and a track record of risk management.
