Road Engineer - Abu Dhabi

About the role

WSP is looking for a Road Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team, supporting the design and delivery of major transportation and infrastructure projects across the UAE. The engineer contributes to the planning, geometric design, coordination and technical delivery of roads and highway projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake geometric design and technical delivery of roads, highways, interchanges and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design drawings and project documentation.
• Develop concept, preliminary and detailed road designs in line with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Coordinate with utilities, drainage, structures, traffic and other teams for integrated delivery.
• Ensure designs meet local authority requirements and international design standards.
• Support design reports, specifications and tender documentation.
• Perform road alignment design, corridor studies, junction layouts and cross-section development.
• Take part in design reviews, technical workshops and stakeholder meetings, and help resolve technical issues.
• Liaise with clients, authorities and stakeholders, support project managers and contribute to value engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5-10 years of experience in road and highway design projects.
• Proven experience delivering transportation, roads and infrastructure projects in engineering consultancy environments.
• Consultant-side road design experience is essential; experience on major UAE or GCC projects is preferred.
• Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of geometric road design principles and highway engineering standards.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD and related road design software.
• Experience with AASHTO, DMRB, Abu Dhabi and UAE road design standards.
• Technical writing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
