Road Engineer - Airport and Infrastructure Projects

About the role

An infrastructure team in Abu Dhabi is hiring a Road Engineer to design roads, junctions, accesses and highway works for airport and infrastructure projects. The role covers all design stages, from feasibility and concept through to detailed design, and includes assessing new works on existing roads and highways, coordinating with other disciplines and following up on authority approvals.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out horizontal and vertical geometric design of roads, junctions, interchanges and accesses, including parking areas, service roads and pedestrian facilities
• Prepare pavement design and layouts, signage, road markings and road safety layouts
• Prepare plans, longitudinal profiles, cross sections, grading and standard details, plus quantities and bills of quantities (BOQ) supporting cost estimates
• Prepare design basis reports, calculation reports and technical specifications
• Review existing road information, topographic surveys and as-built drawings, and assess the impact of new works on existing roads
• Prepare traffic diversion and temporary traffic management options, and coordinate road design with drainage, utilities and structures
• Prepare authority submissions and NOC applications, coordinate with the client and Abu Dhabi road and transport authorities, attend technical meetings and respond to review comments

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in road and highway design in the UAE
• Good knowledge of Abu Dhabi road design standards, manuals and approval procedures
• Able to prepare designs, reports and quantities with limited supervision
• Good written and spoken English
• Preferred: airport or large infrastructure project experience, traffic diversion design experience, UAE driving licence and registration with the UAE Society of Engineers
