Sales Engineer / Estimator - Smart Home Automation

About the role

A skilled and detail-oriented Sales Engineer / Estimator is sought for a smart home automation business in Dubai. The Estimator plays a key part of the sales process by assessing project requirements, preparing cost estimates and presenting comprehensive proposals for smart home installations. The ideal candidate understands general construction and smart home technologies and can communicate clearly with clients, the internal team and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Work with sales representatives, project managers and clients to understand project specifications and requirements.
• Carry out site visits to assess existing infrastructure, evaluate technical considerations and identify challenges or opportunities.
• Analyse CAD plans, floor plans and other project documentation to define the scope of work and materials needed.
• Use estimation software to calculate material costs, labour expenses and project timelines.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates with itemised breakdowns of materials, labour, subcontractor fees and overhead.
• Present estimates and proposals to clients, answering questions and recommending optimal smart home solutions.
• Work with procurement and vendor management teams to secure competitive pricing and timely availability of materials.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals and project documentation, keeping CAD plans and project files up to date.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience as an estimator in construction, home automation or smart home.
• Familiarity with smart home technologies such as home automation, security, lighting controls, HVAC and audiovisual systems.
• Knowledge of UAE building codes, regulations and industry standards for smart home installations is preferred.

Required skills

• Estimation software such as AutoCAD, IntelliCAD and Excel.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints and project documentation.
• Strong analytical, communication and prioritisation skills.
