Secondary English Teacher (IGCSE, AS Level) - Immediate Joiner

About the role

GEMS Education is looking for an English teacher for secondary school who will deliver high-quality English Language and Literature lessons aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. The teacher promotes academic excellence, student engagement and wellbeing, and inspires students to reach their full potential through innovative teaching, effective assessment and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver English Language and Literature lessons following the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.
• Take part in departmental planning, curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, parent meetings and school events.
• Work with colleagues, parents and external agencies where appropriate.
• Maintain professional standards in line with GEMS Education policies and UAE regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Valid qualifications as per ADEK, including a Bachelor's degree in Education (MOFA attested and with equivalency).
• Major in English as a subject qualification.
• Certified teaching qualification (TLS) or Diploma in Teaching.
• IELTS certificate or English-medium instruction letter from university.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience.
• Proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning.

Required skills

• Excellent IT skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to work with students and parents.
• A creative and enthusiastic approach in and beyond the classroom.

The role is assessed on student progress and attainment in IGCSE English exams, quality of teaching observations, assessment accuracy, student engagement and behaviour, contribution to school initiatives and compliance with safeguarding and professional standards. All successful applicants undergo pre-employment checks including identity, qualifications, employment history, references and criminal record checks.
