Senior Accountant - Accounts Receivable & General Ledger

About the role

A leading publicly listed organization in the UAE is hiring a Senior Accountant through Valid Recruit. The role owns accounts receivable and the general ledger and plays a key part in the transformation to Oracle Fusion. You will report to the Financial Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Run the full receivables cycle: invoicing, cash application, collections follow-up, ageing analysis and credit control
• Lead revenue assurance: reconcile billed revenue against contracts and delivery, fix leakage and ensure revenue is recognized correctly under IFRS 15
• Prepare expected credit loss (IFRS 9) provisioning and deferred and accrued revenue schedules
• Own the general ledger: journal entries, accruals, prepayments and provisions
• Deliver month-end, quarter-end and year-end close on time
• Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations, support fixed assets accounting, and handle intercompany, related-party and cross-border transactions
• Support quarterly and annual IFRS financial statements, VAT returns, UAE corporate tax filings, audit schedules and internal controls
• Take part in the Oracle Fusion move: data cleansing and migration, user testing, process redesign and post-go-live support
• Improve processes, automate recurring reports and reconciliations, and support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 7-9 years in accounting, mostly in the UAE
• Experience in a listed organization preferred
• Advanced Excel and clear written and spoken English; Arabic is a plus

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of IFRS 15 and IFRS 9, and UAE VAT
• ERP experience with Oracle (Fusion or EBS) or SAP; involvement in an ERP implementation is a strong advantage
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA or CMA preferred
