Senior Accountant

About the role

Nova International General Contracting is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead financial accounting, reporting and cost control for its construction projects across the UAE. The role combines financial statement preparation, project accounting, treasury management and compliance with UAE tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and company policies.
• Maintain the general ledger, post journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and ensure account reconciliations.
• Monitor project costs, revenue recognition, WIP tracking and profitability for ongoing construction projects.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, invoice verification, payment processing and aging management.
• Review payroll, allowances and deductions ensuring compliance with UAE labour law and WPS.
• Ensure VAT compliance, prepare and file returns, and support tax audits.
• Manage daily cash flow, bank reconciliations, cash forecasts and banking facilities.
• Support ERP/accounting system implementation, train junior staff and improve financial processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA) preferred.
• Extensive experience in accounting within the construction or general contracting sector.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT regulations and local compliance requirements.
