Senior Accountant - Team Lead

About the role

Al Burhan Accounting and Taxation is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead client engagements in Dubai. The role combines oversight of accounting processes with strategic advisory, helping SMEs improve profitability and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end accounting cycles, ensuring accurate AP, AR, GL and reconciliations for multiple client accounts.
• Review and validate journal entries, reconciliations and trial balances prepared by junior staff, ensuring compliance with IFRS and UAE regulations.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closings, including accruals, adjustments and preparation of financial reporting packs.
• Prepare, review and present management reports such as cash‑flow statements, expense analysis and budget‑vs‑actual performance.
• Ensure timely VAT, corporate tax and other regulatory filings, providing proactive compliance advice.
• Monitor changes in UAE tax and company law and translate them into actionable steps for clients.
• Support audit preparation and act as primary liaison with external auditors.
• Serve as main point of contact for assigned clients, delivering financial guidance and process improvement recommendations.
• Champion automation by leveraging Zoho, QuickBooks, Xero and advanced Excel to streamline workflows.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accounting professional with experience in client‑facing roles.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE tax regulations and VAT compliance.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Experience liaising with auditors and preparing regulatory filings.
• Excellent communication skills for client advisory and report presentation.
