Senior Advisor – Environment

About the role

Petrofac, a leading international service provider to the energy industry, is seeking a Senior Advisor – Environment to lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across its projects in Sharjah, UAE. You will ensure that all project activities meet client specifications, ISO standards and local legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement project environmental deliverables, forms, templates and checklists in line with client specifications and ISO standards.
• Conduct routine environmental inspections, site audits and internal audits across sites, camps, storage areas and workshops to detect hazards and enforce controls.
• Manage non‑conformances, investigate spills or incidents and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure waste is handled responsibly, oversee segregation of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, maintain manifest logs and coordinate with approved disposal vendors.
• Monitor, verify and analyse monthly environmental data, including GHG emissions, to meet corporate targets.
• Liaise with ministries, contractors and other stakeholders to secure permits and ensure compliance with legislative and contractual obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Sciences.
• NEBOSH IGC or NEBOSH Certificate for Environmental Management; Lead or Internal Auditor Certificate in ISO 14001.
• Minimum 8 years of environmental experience, including at least 3 years managing environmental aspects in oil & gas or petro‑chemical projects.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of environmental legislative requirements and HSSE Management Systems.
• Experience developing and implementing Environment Management Plans.
• Proficiency in environmental monitoring, audits and inspections.
• Spill response training and ability to investigate incidents.
• Familiarity with Ambient Air Quality Monitoring/CAAQMS.
