Senior Analytics Engineer

About the role

Cognita Schools is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead the design and governance of its enterprise analytics platform. Working in Databricks and reporting to the Analytics & Insight Manager, you will transform raw data into trusted, reusable insights across Finance, HR, Education and Commercial functions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable transformation pipelines, analytical data models and KPI frameworks.
• Develop and govern the semantic layer that provides certified definitions for multiple business domains.
• Implement robust testing, data‑quality controls and governance standards to ensure reliable data delivery.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, Business Insight and Customer Insight teams to translate business requirements into high‑performance models.
• Drive best‑practice analytics engineering, evolving data‑modelling standards and supporting self‑service BI and AI‑driven solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering or a related data‑focused role.
• Hands‑on expertise with Databricks (Lakeflow, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Git integration, CI/CD).
• Advanced SQL and Python proficiency, strong dimensional‑modelling knowledge, and solid understanding of data‑quality, testing and governance principles.
• Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools and ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
