Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Bayut & dubizzle are iconic homegrown brands with a massive user base across the UAE. As a Senior Software Engineer – Backend you will work within high‑performing cross‑functional squads to deliver scalable solutions for millions of monthly active users.

Key responsibilities

• Gather an in‑depth understanding of the dubizzle codebase and technology stack within weeks.
• Lead planning sessions for new product features and define roll‑out/roll‑back strategies.
• Research and apply industry trends in daily work.
• Create unit tests following established standards.
• Write and maintain exemplary code adhering to dubizzle’s programming practices.
• Contribute to post‑release maintenance and resolve issues.
• Design and deliver multiple REST‑based APIs and work with Service‑Oriented Architecture.
• Mentor peers in a peer‑programming environment and conduct code reviews.
• Handle the entire software development life‑cycle end‑to‑end.
• Liaise with QA, design, and other tech teams to share innovations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (preferred).
• 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience, primarily with Python/Django.
• Experience with cloud‑hosted infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Background in high‑traffic, large‑scale web products.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, asynchronous programming, queuing, logging, security and persistence.
• Mastery of caching strategies such as memcached.
• Proficiency in build process management and continuous integration.
