Senior Business Controller - Air & Sea, MENA

About the role

DSV, a global transport and logistics group, is hiring a Senior Business Controller based in Dubai, UAE. The role analyzes P&L performance and reporting above EBITA across entities in the MENA cluster, supporting the Cluster Head of Air & Sea, country managing directors and country finance teams with accurate, objective financial analysis. The position reports to a Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present internal management accounts (based on SAP SAC and TMS reports) and comment on monthly variances.
• Analyze site, branch and product results and propose initiatives to improve profitability and productivity.
• Organize and guide the target process with local finance and business, prepare the P&L budget in SAP SAC, and reconcile targets and forecasts in AFO with country submissions and RtR inputs.
• Support local finance with rolling forecasts and report to Group or regional management.
• Improve processes for work-in-progress run-offs, unbilled work, cost centre reporting and gross profit, and monitor global KPIs for A&S.
• Reconcile billing data from the Transportation Management System with financial records in SAP/CW1 to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
• Follow up gross profit by volume and margin, deliver month-end forecasts and present sales, client profitability, product and daily GP reports.
• Act as the link between the Regional Shared Service Centre and Operations/country finance, validate the SAP Controlling structure (cost centres) and report on staff costs and FTEs.
• Participate in local management meetings, support statutory IFRS audits, prepare special reports (board presentations, business cases, ROIC) and facilitate finance training for business.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a business controller or financial manager role.
• Minimum 2 years in a shared services finance environment covering controlling, finance and credit.
• Minimum 2 years in operational finance management in the Air & Sea environment.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage long hours of overtime, and work with various managerial levels.

Required skills

• Good understanding of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations and reports.
• SAP SAC and SAP Controlling (cost centres).
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication.
