Senior Charge Nurse / Unit Manager – NICU Wing

About the role

The Senior Charge Nurse/Unit Manager leads the NICU wing on Tower A‑Ground, ensuring 24/7 high‑quality patient care while implementing SSMC’s vision, mission, and values. This senior leadership position oversees operational, fiscal, and personnel activities across the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate all unit operations, budgeting and staffing.
• Allocate resources to promote safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care.
• Collaborate with dyad and triad partners, senior nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth unit functioning.
• Collect and analyze data on unit performance, identify trends, and develop improvement strategies.
• Implement health promotion, education initiatives and quality‑enhancement programs.
• Provide consultation, influence change, and drive evidence‑based practice.
• Manage staff performance, including annual evaluations, goal setting and professional development.

Required profile

• Extensive nursing experience with proven leadership in a critical care or NICU setting.
• Strong strategic planning, budgeting and resource‑allocation skills.
• Ability to analyze data, identify issues and develop actionable solutions.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety and quality improvement.
