Senior Commissioning Engineer (Telecom) - Offshore, WHT, Subsea & Piping

About the role

Penspen is urgently hiring a Senior Commissioning Engineer (Telecom) for an offshore PMC project in Abu Dhabi. The role leads and executes telecommunications commissioning for offshore oil and gas projects, including Wellhead Towers (WHTs), subsea cable and pipeline developments, and brownfield modification projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute telecom commissioning, ensuring systems are installed, tested, integrated, commissioned and handed over safely and in line with project specs, international standards, operational requirements and schedules.
• Act as the focal point between engineering, construction, vendors, commissioning teams, operations and clients.
• Develop commissioning strategies, procedures and execution plans, prepare Commissioning Execution Plans (CEP), systemization and commissioning dossiers, and define system boundaries and handover sequences.
• Review engineering deliverables, vendor documentation and telecom philosophies.
• Lead commissioning and testing of offshore telephone, IP telephony, intercom and PABX systems, and data, network, radio communication, safety and security systems.
• Support commissioning of subsea fiber optic systems and verify interfaces between offshore facilities and onshore control centers.
• Plan and execute telecom cutover and migration, keeping brownfield modifications disruptive to operations, and prepare turnover packages.
• Support Ready for Start-Up (RFSU) and final handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical or Communication Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years significant in offshore projects.
• Proven telecom commissioning experience.
• Preferred: commissioning on offshore platforms, WHTs, jackets and topsides, brownfield facilities, and a PMC/EPC background; previous ADNOC offshore experience is an advantage.
