Senior Commodity Trader – Limestone, Dolomite & Steel Raw Materials

About the role

The Senior Commodity Trader will build and lead a trading desk for limestone and dolomite supplying steel mills. You will own the P&L, develop long‑term supply and offtake contracts, and grow the business.

Key responsibilities

• Build the trading book to meet volume and margin targets.
• Secure long‑term supply agreements with mines and offtake contracts with steel mills.
• Run tender and bid strategies for government and PSU projects.
• Set desk processes, risk limits and reporting frameworks.
• Hire and mentor a small team of junior traders.
• Contribute to the design of new commodity verticals.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of trading experience in limestone, dolomite or closely related steelmaking fluxes.
• Proven volume and value closed in the last 3 years.
• Direct sales experience to integrated and EAF steel mills with an activatable buyer book.
• Deep knowledge of mine, quarry and processor operations and quality consistency.
• Experience with logistics (rail, road, port, vessel, demurrage) and government tender processes.
• Full P&L ownership, including credit, counter‑party and price‑risk control.
• Ability to lead a desk and recruit junior staff.

• Specification knowledge: CaO, MgO, SiO2, LOI, sizing.
• Logistics coordination across rail, road, port and vessel.
• Tender and bid strategy execution.
• Risk management and P&L control.
