Senior Contracts Engineer

About the role

The Senior Contracts Engineer will lead the contractual and commercial management of construction projects for BI Group, ensuring that the company’s contractual position is protected and optimized throughout procurement and execution. Acting as the developer‑side authority on contracts and claims, the role collaborates closely with project teams to align commercial activities with project objectives and governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Administer construction contracts (FIDIC or equivalent), ensuring compliance with obligations, timelines, and notice requirements.
• Support preparation of tender and contract documents, evaluate contractor submissions, and identify contractual risks.
• Review and assess variation orders and change requests, maintain variation registers, and coordinate pricing validation with Cost Engineers.
• Evaluate contractor claims (EOT, cost, disruption), prepare responses, and develop negotiation strategies.
• Identify and manage contractual and commercial risks, providing early warnings on potential claims, delays, or breaches.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Planning Engineers, Cost Engineers, and consultants to ensure contractual alignment with project execution.
• Prepare regular contractual and commercial reports, track claims status, variations, and risks, and support audits and internal reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
• 15+ years of experience in contract administration and commercial management.
• Strong experience in UAE construction projects, preferably in Dubai.
• Experience working with developers, consultants, or Tier‑1 contractors.
