Senior Data Scientist - Oil & Gas

About the role

Cognite builds AI and data solutions for industrial digitalization, and its Data Science team works with industry leaders to configure, deploy and operationalize digital solutions in Oil and Gas, Power & Utilities and Manufacturing. As a Senior Data Scientist in Abu Dhabi, you will work in cross-functional teams with data engineers, solution architects and project managers, and engage with clients to understand their outcomes, lead discovery workshops and share strategy insights.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy scalable solutions for customer use cases in Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Power & Utilities using Cognite's core capabilities
• Take part in intensive use-case workshops with subject matter experts to map problems to data
• Perform data cleansing and exploratory data analysis
• Build and deploy physical and machine learning models in Python to a model hosting environment
• Apply GenAI techniques to improve data-driven decision-making
• Build dashboards in Grafana, Power BI, Plotly or Dash
• Contribute to solution templates and best practices, and mentor junior team members
• Work with data engineers, project managers and solution architects on project delivery, and support customers and partners in using Cognite products

Required profile

• MSc in a quantitative field or mechanical, systems-electrical or industrial engineering
• 5+ years of full-time experience as a data scientist (preferably in a related industry), or a data scientist with domain expertise in Energy & Oil and Gas, Maintenance or Manufacturing
• Customer-facing experience with external customers
• Able to work independently, coach and mentor others, and enjoy cross-functional teams

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and SQL; production Python experience is a plus
• Machine learning, statistics and/or optimisation
• Git
• Managed cloud services such as GCP, Azure or AWS are a plus
• Asset Performance Management and production optimization knowledge is a big plus
