Senior Design Architect

About the role

An international architectural and engineering consultancy is seeking a design‑focused Senior Design Architect to join its Architecture Department in Abu Dhabi. The role involves leading architectural projects from concept through detailed design, tender, and construction support while ensuring high‑quality delivery and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept ideas, design diagrams and 3D studies.
• Lead architectural design development across all project stages.
• Initiate and lead new projects, preparing concepts, space plans, renders and design studies.
• Support the Head of Architecture in setting design direction and project strategy.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions for compliance with codes and authority regulations.
• Coordinate design with structural, MEP, interior, landscape and specialist consultants.
• Supervise architects and junior team members, managing workload and technical development.
• Monitor project deliverables, submission schedules and resource allocation.
• Handle design changes, value engineering proposals and technical modifications.
• Participate in client, authority and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Prepare responses to RFIs, technical queries and authority comments.
• Coordinate BIM/Revit models and ensure integration with multidisciplinary models.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in architectural design and project coordination.
• Proven ability to lead and supervise multidisciplinary design teams.
• Strong understanding of authority regulations, codes and consultancy standards.
• Experience in managing project milestones, deliverables and documentation.
