Senior Dredge Master – Cutter Suction Dredger

About the role

The Senior Dredge Master leads all dredging operations aboard a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD), ensuring safe, efficient and productive project delivery. You will coordinate with the vessel crew, project managers and clients to meet production targets while adhering to environmental and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and optimise dredging activities to achieve project production goals.
• Supervise dredging crews, shift operations and support personnel, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
• Monitor cutter performance, dredge pumps, swing systems, spud operations and discharge pipelines to maximise output.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager, Vessel Master, Chief Engineer, Survey Team and client representatives.
• Analyse dredging data, production reports and survey information to minimise downtime.
• Conduct daily operational meetings, toolbox talks and risk assessments to promote a strong safety culture.
• Oversee mobilisation, demobilisation, pipeline installation, anchor handling and equipment relocation.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with the Engineering Department.
• Mentor and develop junior Dredge Masters, Shift Supervisors and operational staff.
• Prepare and review daily production reports, operational logs and project documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma, degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Basic and advanced STCW training certification.
• 5‑10 years of rank experience on heavy‑duty Cutter Suction Dredgers.
