Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

IRTH Group is looking for a qualified, detail-oriented Senior Electrical Engineer to join its construction team in Dubai. Working independently, the engineer liaises with the contractor's technical team at the site technical office and applies standard engineering techniques and criteria to meet construction specifications. The projects cover hospitality, mixed-use and high-rise developments.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve the contractor's construction programme, material submittals, quality control plans and method statements.
• Check shop drawings against contract drawings, specifications, local codes and statutory requirements.
• Handle technical submittals, RFIs, pre-qualifications and handover documents, and track documentation to milestones.
• Monitor construction activities, advise the Planning Engineer and Construction Manager on progress slippage, and resolve site issues.
• Ensure materials comply with approved submittals and specifications, verify quality and completion of works, and review closeout reports.
• Prepare monthly material reports, follow up with local authorities for approvals and no objection certificates, attend factory visits and supplier inspections, and coordinate between disciplines.
• Provide technical support for pre-commissioning, energisation, commissioning and start-up.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; membership of a professional engineering institution is an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years of postgraduate experience, ideally in architectural or engineering construction consultancy in the UAE.
• Proven experience on large-scale development projects, including at least 2 years as a Lead Engineer managing a project independently.
• Knowledge of British and American electrical codes and standards, and of local statutory authorities' regulations in the UAE and the wider Middle East.
