Senior Electrical Engineer – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead and coordinate electrical construction activities on oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motor control centres, generators, UPS systems and battery chargers.
• Manage cable tray, ladder, conduit, power and control cable installation, as well as lighting, earthing, bonding and lightning protection systems.
• Coordinate cable pulling, glanding, termination, equipment hook‑up and overall electrical system installation.
• Review construction drawings and resolve technical issues in collaboration with engineering and multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, material availability and progress against schedule.
• Ensure compliance with QA/QC inspections, testing, HSE procedures and relevant standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8–12 years of electrical construction experience in the oil & gas sector, preferably with an EPC contractor.
• Proven track record delivering electrical installations for process plants, well pads, substations or pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, progress monitoring and material management.
• Excellent communication, coordination and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Installation and testing of transformers, switchgear, motor control centres, generators, UPS systems and battery chargers.
• Cable tray, ladder, conduit, power and control cable routing and termination.
• Lighting, earthing, bonding and lightning protection systems.
• Insulation resistance, continuity and earth resistance testing.
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NEC standards and ADNOC client specifications.
