Senior Engineer - Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering

About the role

Core42, an AI-powered cloud and digital infrastructure company, is hiring a Senior Engineer for its Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering team. The role contributes to the design, implementation, operation and continuous improvement of large-scale private cloud, virtualization and observability platforms, and is hands-on: deploying, operating, troubleshooting, automating and optimizing these platforms in production and non-production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate observability platforms (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting, service health) using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/OpenSearch and related tools.
• Contribute to private cloud, virtualization and container platforms based on OpenStack, Red Hat OpenShift and related technologies.
• Develop and maintain AI-powered operational agents that automate incident detection, root cause analysis, workflows and remediation.
• Work with architecture, product, platform engineering, SRE, security and operations teams on technology evaluation, solution design and operational readiness.
• Support capacity planning, performance optimization, upgrades, migrations, incident response and reliability improvements.
• Integrate observability and platform management with ITSM, incident, change and problem management tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, PagerDuty and Opsgenie.
• Collaborate with security teams to harden platforms and meet cybersecurity, compliance and data governance requirements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, dashboards, diagrams, standards and knowledge base articles, and deliver knowledge transfer sessions.
• Take part in on-call rotations and escalate critical production incidents.
• Improve support workflows, service onboarding and operational procedures with process and operations teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, operating and managing private cloud, virtualization, infrastructure, observability or platform engineering environments.
• Experience with AI-assisted operations, workflow automation and observability/ITSM integration.
• Experience managing large-scale public or private cloud environments, mission-critical or high-availability environments is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Strong Linux administration and hardware architecture knowledge (x86, KVM, NUMA, NICs, GPU/AI accelerators).
• Data center networking and storage concepts.
• Hands-on experience with OpenStack, Red Hat OpenShift, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Splunk or Zabbix.
• Automation, IaC, CI/CD, GitOps and scripting with Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Python, Go or Bash.
• Linux, virtualization, cloud, OpenStack, Kubernetes/OpenShift or ITSM certifications are advantageous.
