Senior Engineer - Rocket Propulsion

About the role

The Senior Propulsion Engineer leads the development, design, manufacturing, and testing of rocket propulsion subsystems, combining technical leadership with project management.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test rocket propulsion systems using thermodynamic, fluid‑dynamic and structural principles from concept through performance validation.
• Lead propulsion projects at system‑engineering level, managing technical interfaces, design reviews and verification activities to meet schedule and budget.
• Define system requirements, maintain baseline documentation and ensure configuration control throughout the programme lifecycle.
• Mentor entry‑level engineers, review technical outputs and support knowledge transfer.
• Support additive manufacturing, laser welding, milling and heat‑treatment activities, resolving non‑conformances with manufacturing teams.
• Advise on PLM software implementation, driving process standardisation and data integrity.
• Prepare and review technical data packages, including drawings, specifications, test reports and interface control documents to customer and regulatory standards.
• Liaise between technical teams and project management, communicating engineering challenges and flagging risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in rocket propulsion development.
• Experience developing and producing solid rocket motor data packs and solid propellant motors for missile applications.
• Strong planning, problem‑solving, communication and analytical skills.
• Broad mechanical engineering knowledge related to propulsion system development and manufacturing.
• Thorough understanding of propulsion product development, production and systems‑engineering processes.
