Senior Engineer - Satellite Operations

About the role

FADA is seeking a Satellite Operations Engineer to join its satellite operations team. The engineer will serve as the primary interface between end‑users and FADA, translating mission requirements into satellite tasking plans and operating the satellite on a day‑to‑day basis. This role offers hands‑on experience in Earth Observation mission planning and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Translate end‑user mission requirements into detailed satellite tasking plans.
• Plan and schedule satellite acquisitions to maximise use of the satellite according to user priorities.
• Provide regular status reports to users, highlighting any deviations from the agreed plan.
• Operate the satellite daily, including commanding, monitoring, and managing routine and contingency operations.
• Monitor satellite health and performance, detect anomalies and support resolution of operational issues.
• Maintain operations logs and related documentation.
• Participate in shift coverage and on‑call rotation once trained and certified.

Required profile

• Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Telecommunications Engineering or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills for interfacing with end users.
• Ability to make decisions and stay composed in time‑critical situations.
• Willingness to work shifts and participate in on‑call rotation.

Required skills

• Understanding of satellite systems fundamentals, including spacecraft subsystems, telemetry and telecommand.
• Familiarity with satellite pass analysis.
• Knowledge of Earth Observation tasking workflows and payload constraints.
• Experience with mission operations concepts.
