Senior Engineer (Sewer) - Infrastructure

About the role

KN International is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer (Sewer) to oversee sewerage infrastructure works in Abu Dhabi. The engineer ensures compliance with approved project requirements, engineering standards and authority regulations, supervises construction, reviews technical submissions, monitors quality and progress, and oversees testing, commissioning and handover of sewer networks.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise construction of sewer pipelines, manholes, inspection chambers, service connections and associated structures, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, material approvals, method statements and ITPs.
• Monitor excavation, shoring, dewatering, pipe installation, bedding, backfilling, compaction and reinstatement, and verify alignment, gradients, invert levels and connection points with the Survey Team.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, technical queries, method statements and inspection requests, and supervise pipeline testing, CCTV inspections, commissioning and defect rectification.
• Coordinate sewerage works with roads, stormwater, water supply, irrigation, dry utilities and other systems, resolving interface issues and utility conflicts.
• Liaise with the Resident Engineer, contractors, consultants, QA/QC personnel, inspectors, client representatives and authorities, and provide technical guidance to site supervision personnel.
• Ensure compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements, especially for excavation, confined-space entry, lifting, shoring and dewatering.
• Coordinate with TAQA Water Solutions (TAQA WS) for inspections, testing, approvals and clearances, and take part in final inspections, snagging, commissioning and handover.
• Maintain site records, inspection logs, progress reports and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in infrastructure projects, including substantial experience in sewerage networks and utility infrastructure; UAE/GCC experience highly preferred.
• Familiarity with TAQA Water Solutions standards and authority approval requirements highly preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of sewer network construction, inspection, testing and commissioning.
• Understanding of QA/QC procedures, technical documentation and construction inspection requirements.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and construction documents.
• Knowledge of utility coordination and multidisciplinary infrastructure interfaces.
• Leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
