Senior Engineering Manager

About the role

As a Senior Engineering Manager at talabat, part of Delivery Hero, you will lead multiple engineering squads (around 20 engineers) within a single technical domain. You will define the long‑term technical vision, ensure delivery excellence, and drive business impact across the food‑delivery platform serving millions of orders in MENA.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a 12‑18 month technical strategy for the domain in partnership with product leadership.
• Build and maintain high‑performing teams: hiring, mentoring, fostering psychological safety, and developing future leaders.
• Guide teams through discovery, planning and small‑batch delivery using XP practices.
• Translate product objectives into scalable technical solutions and communicate impact.
• Collaborate with product, design and business partners to resolve ambiguity and align priorities.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on technical leadership managing engineering teams, with a proven track record of hiring and developing talent.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience in production systems, with deep knowledge of distributed or backend systems, data platforms, mobile or web‑scale infrastructure.
• Strong emotional intelligence, able to navigate ambiguity, handle conflict constructively and create psychological safety.
