Senior Fluids Engineer

About the role

The Senior Fluids Engineer provides technical leadership and operational oversight for drilling fluids, solids control, and waste management across exploration, appraisal and development wells. The role owns the fluids Basis of Design, manages contractors and drives cost‑performance improvements while ensuring HSE compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the fluids sections of Basis of Design documents, detailed Drilling Fluids Programs and Recommended Practices for all well types.
• Design fluid systems to address formation challenges such as H₂S, carbonate losses, shale inhibition, underbalanced or managed‑pressure drilling, and LCM strategies.
• Lead contractor selection, tender evaluation, technical specification preparation and on‑site technical support.
• Monitor daily fluid parameters, ensure compliance with company standards, and report issues to Drilling Superintendent and Well Engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement, cost control and commercial support for fluids, solids control and waste management scopes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geology or a related discipline.
• 12–15 years of progressive fluids‑related experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or coordinating role.
• Experience in sour‑gas/high‑H₂S carbonate environments, preferably in the Middle East or Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
