Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Westay is building a modern travel platform that lets customers discover and book hotels and premium experiences. We are looking for a senior full‑stack engineer with strong backend expertise to design and develop scalable services while also supporting our React/Next.js web applications when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend microservices using Node.js, TypeScript and NestJS.
• Create reliable REST APIs and integrate with external suppliers, payment platforms and content systems.
• Model, index and optimise PostgreSQL databases for performance and consistency.
• Implement caching and performance tuning with Redis.
• Build event‑driven processing using Azure Service Bus or similar messaging technologies.
• Contribute to React/Next.js front‑end work, including API integration and troubleshooting.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to improve productivity and code quality.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines and production monitoring.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily building backend systems, APIs and microservices.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Node.js, TypeScript and NestJS or similar frameworks.
• Deep understanding of microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs and event‑driven architecture.
• Proven experience with PostgreSQL design and optimisation.
• Solid knowledge of Redis caching strategies.
• Ability to contribute to React and Next.js front‑end development.
• Experience with messaging platforms such as Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ or SQS.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, CI/CD and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Practical use of AI‑assisted coding tools to boost development efficiency.
