Senior Material Science Engineer – Missile Systems

About the role

EDGE Group’s Advanced Concepts division is seeking a Senior Material Science Engineer to lead material research and development for high‑technology missile systems. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to select, test, and qualify materials that meet stringent performance and reliability requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive research to identify and evaluate materials for missile components, considering mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
• Design and oversee material testing procedures, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
• Perform failure analysis and root‑cause investigations, recommending improvements or design changes.
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and promote innovative material solutions.
• Plan and manage laboratory operations to develop cost‑effective fabrication processes.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and aerodynamic engineers to integrate materials into missile designs.
• Ensure quality control and regulatory compliance throughout material selection and production.
• Deliver internal and external training on coating and energy‑absorption materials.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years experience in polymer and coating technologies, with at least 4 years in a senior role.
• Master’s or PhD in Polymer Technology or related field.
• Proven experience in research, development, and project management.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills for material characterization.
