Senior Materials Officer

About the role

The Senior Materials Officer is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and coordinating aircraft materials needed for both scheduled and unscheduled heavy maintenance activities. This role ensures parts and repair solutions are available promptly and cost‑effectively to minimise aircraft downtime and support on‑time releases.

Key responsibilities

• Review material requirements during maintenance inputs and raise purchase orders to secure required spares on time and at optimum cost.
• Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Engineering teams to resolve pre‑input material shortages and support maintenance schedules.
• Source and procure aircraft parts, components, repairs, loans, and exchanges in compliance with company requirements.
• Monitor material shortages and repetitive defects, providing recommendations to Planning and Strategic Procurement teams.
• Represent Materials during daily operational meetings and proactively manage potential work stoppages, critical shortages, and AOG situations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or equivalent technical degree with at least 5 years of aviation inventory management experience.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft spares procurement, repairs, loans and exchanges, PBH, pooling arrangements, and supply‑chain best practices.
• Familiarity with aircraft maintenance documentation such as IPC, CMM, AMP, and MPD.
• Experience working with ERP/MRO systems is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/MRO systems (e.g., AMOS, SAP, TRAX, Ramco, Wings, MXI).
• Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation (IPC, CMM, AMP, MPD).
• Expertise in aircraft spares procurement and repair management.
