Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Sewage Treatment

About the role

Parsons is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Abu Dhabi to design and plan sewage treatment plants, sewage pump and lift stations, process design, odour control systems, treatment facilities and their associated piping, process and mechanical systems. Candidates with relevant GCC experience are welcome to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Design sewage treatment systems such as activated sludge, membrane bioreactors, moving bed biofilm reactors, containerized and package STPs, and develop internal designs of pump stations, screening chambers, grit chambers, clarifiers, aeration tanks, blowers, diffusers, trickling filters, chlorination, sludge handling and dewatering units.
• Design potable water, irrigation, stormwater and wastewater pumping stations, and engineer piping systems including GA drawings, isometrics, material take-offs, pump and pipe selection and sizing, and tank and wet well sizing.
• Produce HVAC and ventilation designs, fire protection designs, and review chilled water systems; evaluate physical modelling and CFD modelling of wet wells and pump intakes.
• Prepare specifications, technical data sheets, process diagrams, material requisitions, testing and commissioning procedures and O&M manuals.
• Assess tender submissions, prepare technical tender evaluation reports, estimate costs and support bid submissions.
• Review mechanical, process and piping drawings, equipment layouts and isometrics, check test and commissioning procedures and O&M manuals, and recommend design changes to fix malfunctions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing sewage pump stations and major utility buildings related to infrastructure works, including 7 years in the UAE.

Required skills

• Preferred: TAQA-WS/TAQA-D/TAQA-T, Developers or ADM project design experience.
• Pipe sizing and hydraulic calculation software, HVAC calculations, Revit model review, wet well CFD modelling and piping stress analysis.
