Senior Mechanical Engineer - Onshore Construction

About the role

Penspen is urgently hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for an onshore construction role within an offshore PMC project in Abu Dhabi. The engineer supports fabrication, civil works, module assembly, pre-commissioning and other construction activities related to offshore oil and gas facilities, ensuring mechanical works are safe, efficient and compliant with project specifications, codes, quality requirements and schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Review and support construction execution plans, work packs, method statements and construction procedures.
• Coordinate mechanical construction during fabrication, assembly, testing and pre-commissioning, and ensure work follows approved drawings and specifications.
• Monitor progress, identify schedule risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Review mechanical design deliverables for constructability and installation feasibility.
• Provide technical support for static equipment installation, rotating equipment installation and alignment, piping fabrication and erection, structural interfaces, pressure testing and mechanical completion.
• Enforce project HSE policies and comply with the Quality Management System.
• Support Mechanical Completion and system handover, and interface with engineering, procurement, fabrication yards, commissioning teams and client representatives.
• Take part in progress meetings and construction reviews, and prepare technical reports and progress updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 to 18+ years of experience, with at least 5 years significant in offshore projects.
• Proven experience in offshore platform, topsides or subsea projects, and supporting fabrication yard and module construction.
• Preferred: PMC/EPC background and previous ADNOC Offshore experience.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of offshore construction methods, mechanical systems and safety standards.
• Knowledge of mechanical completion and pressure testing activities.
