Senior Mechatronics Engineer

About the role

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join its Maneuver Dominance team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on integrating electromechanical actuation, sensing, and control subsystems for the Omen hover‑to‑cruise autonomous air vehicle and its payload modules.

Key responsibilities

• Bridge mission system and air vehicle teams to ensure alignment and successful payload integration.
• Own end‑to‑end hardware integration for EO/IR, imaging sensors, RF payloads, gimbals, rangefinders, and inertial sensors.
• Conduct trade studies on mission system selection balancing performance, SWaP, thermal, latency, and environmental robustness.
• Characterize sensors on bench and in flight, including noise, latency, bias, drift, and boresight stability.
• Define payload interface control, mechanical mounting, power and signal definitions, harnessing, and time synchronization.
• Write production software and firmware for drivers, sensor processing, pointing and stabilization control loops, and health management.
• Support aircraft integration, bring‑up, functional checkout, and lead ground and flight test campaigns.
• Lead root‑cause investigations for payload and pointing anomalies across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software domains.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on electromechanical and sensor integration experience in robotics, aerospace, or related fields.
• Strong engineering background in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, or Physics.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, MATLAB, C++, Bash or Rust) for test automation and data collection.
• Experience with low‑level communications (Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C) and real‑time motor control.
• Ability to read schematics, support board bring‑up, and define harnesses; familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or NX.
• Willingness to travel up to 25 % of the time.
