Senior Officer - Logistics

About the role

Emirates Global Aluminium, the world's largest premium aluminium producer and the largest industrial company in the UAE outside oil and gas, is hiring a Senior Officer for its logistics function. The role ensures that the receipt and shipment of all major raw materials are coordinated and monitored so that the supply and production of molten aluminium run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and schedule the receipt of strategic raw materials such as alumina, coke, pitch, AlF3 and baked anodes, advise operations on incoming ships and keep them informed about unloading, storage and delivery
• Liaise with shipping lines, suppliers and the port authority on vessel schedules to avoid clashes and demurrage charges
• Coordinate with dock operation maintenance staff to keep plant and equipment available for receiving raw materials
• Prepare purchase requisitions for supply and shipping lines according to annual requirements
• Prepare the full planning process in the SAP-TSW system and release purchase orders on time
• Comply with safety, quality and environmental policies and perform other related duties as directed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, preferably Supply Chain or Material Management, or a related field
• Diploma or certification in procurement and contracts preferred
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in logistics or shipping in a similar industry

Required skills

• Good knowledge of the aluminium smelting industry
• Knowledge of vendor market trends for freight management and delivered costs
• Strong knowledge of logistics planning and control, inventory control and materials handling
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, and excellent verbal and written communication
