Senior Planning Engineer

About the role

AtkinsRéalis is looking for an experienced Planning Engineer / Senior Planning Engineer in Dubai with a strong background in project planning, scheduling and project controls for large-scale construction developments, including mixed-use, residential, commercial, villa and townhouse projects. The role covers developing and managing project schedules, monitoring progress, conducting delay and risk analyses, preparing reports and supporting project delivery through close collaboration with clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess contractors' baseline schedules for compliance with contract requirements, milestones and construction sequencing.
• Monitor progress against approved baseline programmes and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and review short-term and long-term look-ahead schedules.
• Analyse schedule risks, critical paths and constraints, and conduct delay analysis to support Extension of Time (EOT) assessments and claims evaluation.
• Review contractor progress reports, recovery plans and revised schedules.
• Develop dashboards, KPI reports, earned value metrics and schedule performance analyses.
• Coordinate with resident engineers, construction managers, contractors and client representatives, and monitor EPC, testing and commissioning activities.
• Identify schedule deviations and recommend mitigation and acceleration strategies.
• Support project controls, risk management, forecasting and change management, and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Take part in project review meetings, progress meetings and stakeholder workshops, and assist in closeout planning and handover milestones.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in planning and controls.
• Experience in baseline programme review, progress monitoring, look-ahead schedules, delay analysis, EOT support, progress dashboards and reporting.

Required skills

• Primavera P6 capability or certification preferred.
