Senior PMC Specialist HVAC Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced PMC Specialist HVAC Engineer to lead the design, engineering and execution of HVAC systems for high‑profile oil & gas facilities in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes and project specifications while delivering safe, reliable and energy‑efficient solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HVAC design for control rooms, substations, telecom shelters, hazardous area ventilation, pressurisation and smoke management systems.
• Perform heat‑load calculations using HAP/Carrier, size equipment (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, exhaust), and develop ducting layouts and schematics.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, review vendor documents, support procurement and manage material delivery.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning and resolve site issues to maintain design integrity.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA and ISO standards and participate in HAZOP/HAZID studies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years HVAC engineering experience, including at least 5 years as Lead Engineer on mega ADNOC EPC/EPC‑M projects.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.

Required skills

• HAP/Carrier heat‑load calculation software.
• AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, ISO and ADNOC specifications.
• Experience with explosion‑proof HVAC systems and redundancy design.
• Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) and commissioning procedures.
