Senior Procurement Engineer

About the role

The Senior Procurement Engineer manages end‑to‑end procurement of engineering, maintenance, operational and project requirements, ensuring timely acquisition of technically compliant, cost‑effective and reliable goods and services. The role acts as the primary interface between Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain and Project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to forecast demand, consolidate requirements and develop procurement plans aligned with production, operational and project priorities.
• Identify critical, long‑lead, sole‑source and high‑risk requirements early, challenge specifications where appropriate and develop execution plans providing visibility of priorities and timelines.
• Determine and implement suitable sourcing approaches (competitive bidding, limited tendering, framework agreements, OEM sourcing) and manage RFIs, RFQs, RFPs and tender processes from initiation through award.
• Conduct market intelligence, supplier benchmarking and commercial assessments to strengthen supply resilience and sourcing effectiveness.
• Review technical specifications, BOMs, drawings and scopes of work to ensure procurement solutions meet business and technical needs.
• Lead technical and commercial evaluations of components, equipment, tooling and services, assessing compliance with engineering, quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Identify, pre‑qualify and manage suppliers, negotiate pricing, service levels and contractual terms, and monitor performance through KPIs and SLAs.
• Manage procurement activities from requisition through purchase order issuance, expediting, delivery, receipt and close‑out, supporting operational continuity and project execution.
• Identify, assess and mitigate supplier, technical, commercial, contractual, quality, geopolitical and supply‑chain risks, and maintain contingency sourcing strategies.
