Senior Production Engineer

About the role

The Senior Production Engineer will lead production operations in the Feeder Shop and Assembly Sections, ensuring that production plans, quality standards, cost targets and delivery commitments are met. The role focuses on continuous improvement through lean manufacturing, process optimisation and effective team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Attend daily production meetings, report on performance, output and status.
• Plan and coordinate daily activities with Foremen and Chargehands according to schedules and priorities.
• Monitor production performance, analyse interruption reports and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Identify and reduce production losses, material waste and inefficiencies; improve routing times and weekly efficiency metrics.
• Implement and sustain lean manufacturing tools, conduct process reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Review deviation reports, NCNs and defect analyses; coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
• Supervise Foremen, Chargehands and production staff, approve shift assignments and foster a culture of accountability.
• Prepare weekly machine breakdown and maintenance reports; analyse time‑study data to boost machine utilisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in production planning and operations within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in lean manufacturing, process improvement and quality management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop production teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for data‑driven decision making.
