About the role
The Senior Reactor Engineer will lead core management activities at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the reactor. This role involves design, analysis, and oversight of core performance, fuel handling, and compliance with nuclear safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Support design changes, maintain design basis, and manage configuration documentation from a reactor engineering perspective.
- Provide technical support for Core Protection Calculator (CPC) and Core Operating Limit Supervisory System (COLSS) to sustain safe operations.
- Analyze Reload Safety and Licensing Checklist (RSLC) and Reload Safety Evaluation Report (RSER) and recommend safety improvements.
- Participate in Loading Pattern (LP) meetings and develop final LP recommendations.
- Review Nuclear Design Report (NDR) and vendor documentation for accuracy and relevance.
- Evaluate In‑Core Neutron Instrumentation (ICI) sensitivity and Control Element Assemblies (CEA) degradation.
- Develop vessel fluence surveillance calculations and monitor core performance data.
- Perform verification and validation (V&V) of vendor core designs and assess reload risks.
- Support Main Control Room operators during startup, shutdown, and power ascension phases.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in reactor engineering, core design, and reactivity management.
- Strong knowledge of nuclear safety regulations, industrial codes, and standards.
- Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
- Analytical mindset with capability to develop technical solutions for complex issues.
